Custom Drapes, Lavallette, NJ Shore

For this beach house in Lavallette, NJ, the goal was to create window treatments that felt relaxed, natural, and refined, well suited to a home at the Jersey Shore. The open living room and kitchen space has a warm coastal feel, with light wood floors, a soft neutral palette, woven textures, and plenty of natural light. The custom drapes and Roman shades were designed to complement that atmosphere without overpowering it.

We used Viscolin Marfil, an eco-friendly up-cycled cotton fabric woven in Spain. Its soft light sand tone brings warmth to the space, while the subtle woven texture adds depth and movement. In a beach house, fabric choice matters: it needs to feel casual enough for everyday living, but elevated enough to complete the design. Viscolin Marfil does both beautifully.

In the living area, custom roman shades were installed on the windows above the sectional. They provide privacy and light control while keeping the room clean and uncluttered. The natural texture of the fabric works especially well against the white trim and soft wall color, creating a calm, layered look.

In the dining area, full-height custom drapes frame the large glass doors. The drapes soften the architecture, add privacy when needed, and bring a sense of comfort to the open space. Installed on a dark drapery rod, they create just enough contrast while still feeling understated and coastal. When closed, the woven fabric filters the daylight beautifully, giving the room a soft, beach-house glow.
What makes this project special is the balance between function and feeling. The window treatments help manage light and privacy, but they also make the room feel finished, warm, and inviting. For a shore home, that is exactly the point: easy living, natural materials, and details that quietly elevate the space.
