why neutral tones

When it comes to home decor, neutrals gets a bad wrap!  Whether its walls, drapes or furniture, neutrals are considered “playing it safe” or deemed “boring and bland.” But on the flip side neutral colors often have the most calming energy making them great for mental and emotional health.  Neutrals are also easy to decorate around, easy to refresh and ultimately end up being less expensive.  Lets explore further!

the comeback of warm neutrals

Cool neutrals like gray and white are some of the most relaxing colors on the spectrum.  Warm neutrals like cream and brown have a positive uplifting feel.  Both sound great! In terms of current home fashion trends, grays and whites have been in the lead for the past five years but warm neutrals are making a strong come back.  The latest home fashion trend is bring nature inside and earthy warm colors are a big part of that.

change the accessories

Now lets talk about how neutrals save money! First of all, neutrals match with everything.

When updating decor we suggest going neutral with the larger more expensive pieces in the room: couch, flooring, drapes, etc and if you desire more color and patterns, bring it in with less expensive pieces that can easily be changed : throw pillows, artwork, rugs, etc.  This way when you’re tired of your decor, you don’t have to change everything.  The bigger more expensive items can stay the same and the less expensive items can change. Sometimes just changing the wall color and a few accessories can give the room a quick facelift and different style!

Instead of thinking of neutrals as boring, we prefer to think of them as smart!  Check out our collection of neutral decor photos for inspiration!
