In this recent Living Room project in Franklin Lakes, NJ, our KOPA Interior Designer recommended changing the drapery panels and replacing the roman shades. Clean lines, neutral colors and balanced fabric panels brings together the space in a modern sophisticated way
1. Stationary Side Panels
The custom drapes featured here are stationary side panels, meaning they are decorative and do not close. This allows the windows to feel finished and framed but use a minimal amount of stacking to keep the full view.
2. Clean cut Length
The Living Room wall that these windows are on already have several bold decor pieces close but like the large stone section, fire place, wooden mantel, wall mounted television and wood trimmed arch ceiling. Because of this, having the drapery lines clean cut and balanced is important to the design of the space.
3. Subtle Roman shades
For privacy, our Kopa designer and client chose to match the roman shades to the window trim color. This allows the clients to close the romans for privacy but have them disguised and hidden when up.
4. Neutral Palette
The overall color scheme of this living room focuses on neutral tones, creating a calm and soothing environment. The soft tan of the custom drapes complements the neutral shades found throughout the space. The pale walls, mix of neutral colored furniture, and natural wooden floor form a balanced.
6. Minimal Decor for a Modern Look
The room’s decor is minimal but impactful. Overall light neutral colors with a handful of contrasting color pieces adds visual interest without overwhelming the space. Well-placed accessories contribute to the room’s overall aesthetic while maintaining a clean, modern look.
7. Tips for Achieving This Look
Keep a neutral color palette: Neutral tones create a calming atmosphere. Use variations of cream, beige, tan or off-white to keep the space feeling open and relaxed.
Add contrasts of color: A few darker items makes the space feel more inviting
Balance your furnishings: Opt for furniture that is comfortable yet streamlined. Low-profile furniture helps maintain an open, airy feeling, especially in rooms with high ceilings.
