Brooklyn brownstones are known for their timeless charm, intricate woodwork, and architectural elegance. Recently, we had the privilege of installing custom sheer drapery panels for MKCA Architecture in a beautifully restored brownstone, adding a touch of softness and sophistication to its already stunning interiors.

The primary bedroom and adjacent sitting room are separated by a grand wooden doorway, adorned with exquisite moldings and detailed carvings. To enhance the space while preserving its architectural beauty, we installed two pairs of sheer drapes that frame the doorway gracefully. The light, airy fabric allows natural light to filter through while providing just the right amount of privacy.

Designed with both aesthetics and functionality in mind, these sheer panels soften the transition between rooms while complementing the intricate wood details. When drawn open, they are elegantly secured with tie-backs, creating a refined and inviting look.

The choice of sheer fabric was done by the design arm of MKCA—it enhances the height of the doorway, making the space feel even more grand and open. The neutral tone blends seamlessly with the room’s classic design, ensuring the drapes accentuate rather than compete with the brownstone’s original craftsmanship.
