Creating a Warm and Inviting Living Room with Custom Drapes.
The Living Room in this project in Edgewater, NJ is a beautiful blend of modern comfort and thoughtful design. One of the key elements that ties this space together is the choice of window treatments that preserves the gorgeous view of NYC and adds an elegant touch
1. Stationary Side Panels
The custom drapes featured here are stationary side panels, meaning they are decorative and do not close. This allows the windows to feel finished and framed but use a minimal amount of stacking to keep the full view.
2. Designer Length
One of the hottest trends in drapery window fashions is designer length drapes. Often called Pooled Drapes or Puddled Drapes, designer length is where the drapes hit the floor and create puddle or pile of fabric. This added touch elevates the space giving a modern custom style.
2. RippleFold & Antique Pewter
To keep with the modern design in this space, our designer recommended Ripplefold. Ripplefold is where the drapes hang in waves not pleats. In addition, the drapery hardware color is Antique Pewter for a subtle modern contrast. Lastly, the drapery panels are ceiling mounted to accent the full height of the windows
4. Neutral Palette
The overall color scheme of this living room focuses on neutral tones, creating a calm and soothing environment. The soft cream of the custom drapes complements the light shades found throughout the space. The pale walls, mix of light-colored & bold colored furniture, and natural wooden floor form a balanced.
5. Fabric
Our designer carefully selected our popular fabric Plateau Smooth with a light filtering liner for this space. The client originally was looking for grey or light grey drapes. The Plateau Smooth color fabric was a better fit. This fabric has a subtle satin sheen and soft elegant drape which works perfectly with Ripplefold at designer length
6. Minimal Decor for a Modern Look
The room’s decor is minimal but impactful. Overall light neutral colors with a handful of bold color pieces adds visual interest without overwhelming the space. Well-placed accessories contribute to the room’s overall aesthetic while maintaining a clean, modern look.
7. Tips for Achieving This Look
Keep a neutral color palette: Neutral tones create a calming atmosphere. Use variations of cream, beige, or off-white to keep the space feeling open and relaxed.
Add pops of color: A few bold color items makes the space feel more inviting
Balance your furnishings: Opt for furniture that is comfortable yet streamlined. Low-profile furniture helps maintain an open, airy feeling, especially in rooms with high ceilings.
