Goal of the project:

The client renovated their Living Room in Jersey City, NJ with custom curtains. The goal was to give a clean contemporary look to the room, soften the light coming in the tall windows, have the option of privacy but not darken the room.

What we recommended:

Custom drapery panels using our signature Reverie fabric, in a fresh warm white Casa Blanca color.  Reverie has a subtle sponge pattern mix of metallic and matte finish. Reverie goes well with the contemporary style of the room because the texture is subtle and does not have a busy pattern.  The window takes up the majority of one wall and the customer did not want a pattern that would be overpowering.  For the color, going with a warm white color kept the transition from the light wall color to the windows subtle. 

Carefully matching the drapes to the walls also helps create the illusion of a larger more open space.  In addition, our signature Reverie fabric was an excellent selection for this customer because it allows soft light to enter the room and provides privacy.  With such a large window, the customer also needed the light to be diffused enough to block any glare on the television and computer screen.

For mounting the custom drapes, our Designer recommended the modern top pleat and rod with rings hardware in a contrasting black color. The contrasting black drapery hardware compliments the industrial style and color of the window. These custom drapes were designed to be mounted a few inches below the ceiling and hang to 3/4 “ above the floor.  

In contemporary interior design, often less is more.  Simple patterns, colors and textures create clean lines, smooth transitions and modern vibes.
