Goal of the project: The client wanted to update their master bedroom window treatments in Jersey City, NJ.  The customer lives in a high rise condominium across the Hudson River from NYC. The goal was to have maximum versatility with options for light filtering, blackout, privacy and stacking for a full open view.

What we recommended:

Our Designer recommended a dual drapery treatment: custom sheer and blackout curtains.  This is when we are able to make and install 2 sets of drapes on 2 separate but connected tracks. Therefore the drapes hang one in front of the other and are perfectly lined up. This allows maximum versatility of light and privacy control.  The outer custom curtains are a blackout lined sustainable cotton blend in our classic Rabat Arena, in a simple sand / light beige color.  The inner curtain draperies are sheer panels using our signature Milan Blanco fabric, in a fresh white color. Because of the vast size of the window and drapes, the customer opted for neutral fabrics without patterns.  This makes the drapery easy to decorate around and does not distract from the overall style of the room. This is important because the drapes take up one entire wall.

The customer also has an incredible view of New York City from their master bedroom and still wanted the option of having the drapes completely open without obstructing their view. For this we recommended our popular sleek performance track with Ripplefold pleat style.  This allows the drapes to stack as tightly as possible on each side of the window.  As well, the drapes were custom made to mount past the window 18” width on each side allowing the drapery fabric to stack in front of the wall.  Lastly, the custom blackout curtains were designed to overlap the wall above the window 12” and hang to ¼” above the floor in order to block extra light from coming in.
