Goal of the project: The client in Hoboken, NJ wanted the best option to keep the master bedroom dark. Another goal is giving a sleek contemporary look to the room.

What we recommended: Fully closing blackout drapes in a European sustainable cotton blend fabric, with a white blackout liner. This home located in Hoboken, NJ has very large windows, most of them from floor to ceiling. Blackout curtains are the best type of window treatment to make a bedroom dark. The client wanted a natural fabric that is as eco-friendly as possible. Our Viscolin line is a blend of “up-cycled” cotton and viscose. This fabric is heavyweight and provides good insulation, especially when combined with a liner. The customer selected a light natural color to go with the ivory, sand and beige tones in the bedroom. The Ripplefold pleat is a wave pleat that gives a sleek and contemporary look to the draperies. The client went with a motorized traverse track, which has ball bearing carriers for easy opening and closing.

Installation: The drapery track is inside the ceiling soffit. As a result, the track is not visible, for a clean look. The track and the blackout drapes go wall-to-wall. The drapes are slightly off the floor, since they are operated daily. With a soffit installation, we minimize the light gap coming in through the top, the sides and the bottom of the drapery panels.
